Our First Stop Stonehenge

I AM BACK AGAIN...  but for how long, I dare not commit... LOL...

Come May, I went for a two weeks cruise called Baltic Sea cruise which covers a few countries namely Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Estonia and Norway.   I hope I got them correct but definitely not in sequence though.

My siblings and I booked this cruise nearly a year ago... yes, a year ago because we wanted to sign in early to get the promo rate.  LOL.. I had not been on a Princess ship before and I heard good reviews about it so without hesitation, I joined the cruise.

A year later, all the six of us flew to London a day earlier before the cruise started.  We joined another group of Malaysians, one of them who is the organizer of this trip.  Everything went on smoothly at the airport and in no time, all 18 of us were in a coach bus taking us to our first destination, Stonehenge on Salisbury Plain, Wiltshire...

Blur blur or not, we managed to keep our eyes open for the first excursion.
This is Stonehenge...
Nearer view of Stonehenge...
Further view...
Something must be very interesting about these rocks...
Yes, we had a tour guide to explain it all....
I guess we were either too tired or too occupied with our photo taking
to remember much of what he had said...
LOL...
And I marked my presence...
Group of Malaysians on the first day of our trip...

Visit to Secret Tunnel, Penang

DON'T KNOW WHY IT IS CALLED SECRET TUNNEL....

Maybe they got the name from up north, Thailand cos the food served are mostly Thai food....

But at that time I did not order Thai dishes, there were only two of us, both seniors, cannot eat a lot especially during dinner time.  LOL... Now I understand why those days my ex-colleagues who retired used to tell me that they eat only half portions... That time I did not understand cos I was still working and I could eat one full portion by myself... Now I know!  LOL...

I shared this plate of noodles with my partner....
Nothing really spectacular as shown here...
Perhaps we were not so food-adventurous on that day....
We did not order much...
Just this dish and the below dessert....
Though I love desserts, I cannot eat this full portion at my senior age now...
Half portion is good enough for me...
There are many other varieties to choose from..
One day we might drop by the Secret Tunnel again...

Blog And Moments in the Park

STARTED MY BLOG IN 2008 JANUARY...

Blogging was a trend then, I was in my late forties, I was still working and I updated my blog each day in the office.  I remember going blog hopping too, from one blog to another, making friends with bloggers from the Philippines, Singapore, Europe, United States and of course, from my own country, Malaysia.  Blogging was my passion during those years until I retire in 2014 and still blogging now in 2025 though not as frequent as before.

Now blogs have taken the backseat, giving way to Vlog, videos are not my expertise... and then Facebook, Tik Tok took over too, occupying more of my Me time now than before.

A lot of my bloggers friends have also given up their blogs, I have lost track of many, unfortunately.

Perhaps blogging is still the ON thing, it is ME who does not find time to update my blog... and yet, I don't want to give it up... I am still paying annually for my domain and I will continue to do so until the day that my fingers could not find their way to the keyboard....

Random picture of my grandson in Polo Ground...
He loves climbing...
Cherishing the moments with the young at the park...
Loving each moment of the time we walked at the park together...

Travel Essentials For A Good Night's Sleep Anywhere

Getting a good night’s sleep while traveling can feel impossible. Unfamiliar environments, shifting time zones, and unexpected noises can turn rest into a challenge. But with the right essentials, you can create a cozy sleep setup wherever you go. Whether you're in a hotel, on a plane, or camping in the mountains, these travel-friendly sleep aids will help you wake up refreshed and ready for your next adventure.

1. A High-Quality Travel Pillow

If you’ve ever tried to sleep sitting up, you know how uncomfortable it can be. A good travel pillow is a game changer for flights, road trips, or train rides. Opt for a memory foam or inflatable pillow that provides proper neck support, preventing stiff necks and ensuring better rest. Some even come with cooling technology or ergonomic designs to maximize comfort.

2. Noise-Canceling Headphones or Earplugs

Loud neighbors, airplane engines, and city traffic can make sleep nearly impossible. Noise-canceling headphones block out unwanted sounds so you can doze off peacefully, whether you're in a crowded airport or a bustling hotel. If you prefer something lightweight, reusable silicone or foam earplugs are a great alternative. Look for options designed to stay in place all night.

3. A Comfortable Nightgown

The importance of comfortable sleepwear can’t be overstated. A soft, breathable women’s nightgown helps you relax no matter where you’re staying. In warm climates, cotton, bamboo, or moisture-wicking fabrics keep you cool, while fleece or thermal materials provide warmth for chilly destinations. Prioritizing comfort ensures you sleep soundly, even in unfamiliar settings.

4. A Sleep Mask

Bright lights from hotel hallways, airplanes, or street lamps can disrupt your body’s natural sleep cycle. A contoured sleep mask blocks out light without pressing on your eyes, creating a completely dark sleep environment. Look for one with an adjustable strap and soft materials for maximum comfort.

5. White Noise Machine or Sleep App

Disruptive noises can make it hard to fall asleep in a new place. A portable white noise machine helps mask sounds and creates a consistent, calming sleep environment. If you’re packing light, a sleep app with nature sounds, meditation tracks, or white noise playlists works just as well. Many smartphones also come with built-in white noise features—perfect for drowning out background noise wherever you are.

6. Thermal Socks for Cold Nights

Cold feet can keep you tossing and turning all night. A cozy pair of thermal socks adds an extra layer of warmth, especially in chilly hotel rooms or during winter flights. Wool or fleece-lined socks are ideal since they provide insulation without overheating.

7. Herbal Sleep Spray or Essential Oils

Aromatherapy is a simple but effective way to relax while traveling. A lavender-infused sleep spray or an essential oil roller with chamomile, eucalyptus, or valerian root can help signal to your brain that it’s time to rest. A quick spritz on your pillow or a dab on your wrists can make your temporary sleep setup feel more like home.

8. A Compact Blanket

Let’s be honest—airplane blankets aren’t exactly luxurious, and hotel bedding doesn’t always hit the mark. A lightweight, foldable travel blanket can make all the difference in staying cozy. Look for microfiber or fleece options that provide warmth without taking up too much space in your carry-on.

9. Hydrating Sleep Tea

Drinking a warm, caffeine-free herbal tea before bed can help you unwind, no matter where you are. Pack a few tea bags of chamomile, valerian root, or lemon balm tea to create a calming nighttime ritual. Bonus tip: Some hotels provide hot water kettles in the rooms, making it easy to enjoy your tea before bed.

10. A Sleep-Friendly Travel Routine

Packing the right sleep essentials is important, but so is adjusting your habits. Here are a few simple travel sleep hacks to help your body adjust:

  • Stick to your usual sleep schedule as much as possible.
  • Limit screen time before bed—blue light can interfere with melatonin production.
  • Avoid caffeine and heavy meals close to bedtime.
  • Practice deep breathing or meditation to ease travel stress and signal relaxation.
  • If adjusting to a new time zone, gradually shift your sleep and wake times before your trip.

Final Thoughts

Wherever your travels take you, a good night’s sleep is essential for enjoying your adventure to the fullest. With the right travel-friendly sleep essentials, you can create a restful environment no matter where you rest your head. A well-rested traveler is a happy traveler—so pack smart, sleep well, and make the most of your journey!

One Way To Remember Where My Car Is

AND I ALWAYS DO THIS .... after parking my car, I snap a picture of the nearest pillar with the details....

I experienced not remembering where I parked my car and had a hard time rewinding and retracing the steps, wasting time looking high and low, last resort was to seek the help of the poor security guard who hunted down the car using his motorbike.

It did not happen in Ipoh, the malls here are small compared to those in Klang valley and Penang.  Each time I go to One U, the first time after getting down from the car is to take a picture... now play smart, eh... rather than depending on my "hard disk" which is rather obsolete nowadays...

Another way is to remember the entrance we go into from the car park... and that too, sometimes I cannot remember!  I better play more mahjong, someone used to tell me... I don't mind playing provided there is enough "kakis" (players) ... unfortunately, I do not have another three partners who are keen in playing.  Anyway, mahjong is not my craving type of table game, I prefer Gin Rummy anytime.

Life nowadays has taken a turn... since my favorite girlfriend has left me, I do not go out on a eating spree much.  I am now taking care of a cute baby, from second month onwards and now going on four months.  Yes, I have become a temporary nanny.... LOL... For now, I enjoy the blissful days of feeding, changing "kaya greenish paste" diapers, bathing her, cooing.. singing... and laughing at her cute expressions.  That is my life for now.....

How about you?  Any changes?

Camper1991 On The Fifth Day of Chinese New Year

CHINESE NEW YEAR... fifth day....

The place is called Camper1991 and during this festive season, no reservations are allowed.  Business is brisk over here, so I heard.  Normal days, we can call and book, but on this fifth day of Chinese New Year,  we were told to just walk in... and .... wait....

As usual, it is best to be early diners if we do not want to wait in line.  We reached the Campers1991 before 6pm and there was two tables left.  So happy to see that... it was my first time visit to this place and from reviews, the food is good and the price is reasonable!

There were 6 of us including a three year old who eats like an adult.. or should I say, she eats more than I do!   Here's is our order....

Har Cheong Kai Burger...
aka chicken burger in prawn paste...
I would like to try that again!
Portion is to my liking...
Not the gigantic portions which make me full even before eating!
We ordered another type of burger which is pork...
Somehow the picture is missing from my folder...
My three year old finished this plate of tomato pasta teriyaki chicken...
Ok, she finished the noodles and we adults helped with the chicken...
Smoked duck pizza....
6 pieces of chicken wings crispy, sweet and savory...
Rib eye steak....
Two types of desserts...
Don't understand why they make a choc dog cake....
Looks so real...
Nevertheless, I started with the legs...
and ended with the head...
Poor doggie...
And the Happy Lot.... grinning from left to right....
Total cost... RM226 plus drinks...
When we left, there were a few families outside...
Happy Waiting!!
